RACE DAY  - Sunday, September 19, 2004

10K 12:00 - Start & Finish at the Old Town Square

The WARR Race takes place in conjunction with the Mattoni Grand Prix

5K  01:30 - Start & Finish at the Old Town Square

Both races start and finish at the Old Town Square.  The course is a 5km loop through the historical city center, leading across and along the banks of the river Vitava, under the spectacular panorama of a beautiful Prague castle.  A music festival (PIM Prague International Marathon serenade) taking place along the course will make this a truly impressive and extraordinary event for WARR 2004 participants and spectators.  Take a look at some pictures in the photo gallery at PIM: www.pim.cz.   WARR participants running in the 10K will have a great experience running along side world-class runners in the Mattoni Grand Prix.   Past winners in the Mattoni Grand Prix have included Haile Gebrselassie (ETH) in 2001 with a time of 28:07 (rec.) and Paul Tergat (KEN) in 1997, 1998, and 2002 with a time of 28:14.  The Chip-Winning time ranking system will be used for time keeping.

Where To Stay: The Old Town Square a major tourist area will be the center of action, with the PIM Expo Tents being part of the WARR Registration and Race Packet pick-up area, a two-minute walk to the U ROTTA Restaurant the WARRtering Hole (hospitality room).  WARRiors will be visiting Prague in September, the top tourist season, with the advantage of the best weather conditions throughout the year and the disadvantage of an oversold hotel capacity.  Therefore, it is IMPORTANT to make your reservation, at least for the WARR days (16-19 Sep), as soon as possible.  For your convenience, the CSA team has put together a list of available hotels in different budget ranges.  The 3 travel agencies that hold the options for the chosen Hotels are listed below.  The travel agencies will keep the capacity and prices for WARRiors until June 30 ONLY!  After that date, accommodation will be subject to availability only and experience from the past year would indicate that hotel prices will escalate for this “top tourist” period – So please don’t wait too long and risk being “homeless” in Prague!

The list of hotels and reservation contacts are available at: http://www.worldairlineroadrace.org

-Also available are 150 beds (12EUR per pers.) in dbl, quads at the (hostel and camp) Aritma Sport Club. More information and reservation at: www.camp.cz

First chance to meet old friends and make new friendship will be on Thursday, Sep 16 in a vintage steam train, which will take WARRiors for a day trip to Cesky Sternberk castle (13th century) over Sazava river valley. We assume that the restaurant car with draught beer, lunch and snacks will be the most favorite place of the WARR train charter. The starting point is the Fanta Café (Hlavni nadrazi, Fantova kavarna) at the Main Railway station at 08:00 and the train returns at 17:00. Capacity is limited; reservation and payment (40USD, lunch included) have to be done in advance together with the WARR entry form.

Everyone is encouraged to bring team banners and flags to display.  Please note that restrictions may be applied for hanging up banners and flags at some of the WARR functions.  Include plenty of airline promotional items and mementos from your country to distribute at WARR’s social gatherings.  Wear a shirt displaying your team or airline’s logo during the race.  Airline, Club, or Team merchandise may NOT be sold at WARR functions.  We encourage teams that wish to sell items to do so in their own hospitality suites.  Please invite other teams to drop by and socialize.

The Team Captains meeting is sponsored by SAUCONY.  Each airline has a Team Captain and they are continuously updated on WARR plans and changes.  Please contact your Team Captain for the latest on WARR activities, accommodations and travel plans.  The Team Captain’s Meeting will be held in the APC building, CSA headquarters at PRG Ruzyně airport, 7th floor, auditorium, on September 17, 2004 at 10:00 am. Only one representative per airline. Pick up your Special Team Captain’s Packet at Registration.
